Stung Treng Province is located in the northeastern Cambodia, 481 km from the nation’s capital, Phnom Penh, and borders Lao to the north, Ratanakiri to the east, Preah Vihear to the west, and Kratie and Kampong Thom to the south.

Stung Treng is expected to be a gateway to ASEAN international markets, and is a unique province with four intersecting rivers (the Mekong, Se Kong, Se San and Srea Pok). The freshwater dolphins (Irrawaddy) also can be seen in the Mekong River, which has a great potential for eco-tourism development.
Stung Treng’s economy is based largely on the agricultural sector. Various kinds of plantation such as rubber, timber and cashew are being cultivated across the province. Temperature is between 17oC -19oC, and rainfall is between 1,800 – 2,042.42 mm/year.
85% of 117,490 populations are living in rural parts of the province and depending on agricultural farming for their livelihoods. Livestock rearing, fishing and silk weaving are also key industries in this province.
